http://www.diannecraft.org/language-arts-writing-program/#4

Is your son or daughter struggling with writing?  Do they enjoy reading, but when it comes to picking up a pencil they resist?

This website was recently recommended to me, and I thought it had some helpful tips

Are there other topics where you need some creative ideas? Post a comment below and I"ll be sure to include tips in future posts.

Portfolios

Thank you to all of those that graciously invited me into your homes, either in person or virtually, to celebrate the progress that has been made these past few months.  I've really enjoyed spending time with each of you, and learning more about your families.  It's amazing to see the creativity and diversity within HCOS.  It's been a great week. Thank you!

For those that are still working on compiling samples, thank you in advance for getting those to me as soon as possible.

HCOS NEWS

A group of local young home schooled teenagers are taking part in what is called a MarketDay Learning Camp.  This is a 9 week, entry level entrepreneurship learning camp with a global twist.  They learn all about business and put what they learn into practice as they become entrepreneurs and create their own real MarketDay with shops and products.  Along the way they learn about the struggles of the entrepreneurial poor in the developing world.  ALL of their profits from the MarketDay Fair Event go to charities that support micro-lending, micro-enterprise and job creation programs in the developing world.  These, as the students come to learn, are some of the best, long-term solutions to eradicating poverty.

MarketDay Fair Event -
Saturday, November 22nd
1 - 5pm
Maple Ridge Christian Reformed Church, 20245 Dewdney Trunk Road

Learning Commons has purchased some Lego Mindstorms kits (ages 12+), likewise through the help of PAC we also have some WEDO Robotics kits (ages 7-12) and Lego Simple Machines (K-gr. 3) all perfect for Learning Group activities!  I am sure you will be hearing more soon as to how to access if interested- stay tuned!!!
